Marriage Registration in Russia and other countries: If you are planning to get married in Russia or other countries, you should do some preliminary work beforehand, i.e. prepare the required documents while you are still in Canada. The following documents - legalized and translated into Russian or the language of the country of marriage, are absolutely necessary:  Marriage Letter (also known as a Search Letter or Letter of Non-Impediment*) confirming that there is no record of a marriage for you Copy of the main page of your passport Divorce Certificate (if you have been divorced) If you require your future spouse to file for marriage certificate application on your behalf before your arrival, you also need legalized and translated Power of Attorney for the request to be processed on your behalf It is recommended to inquire with the particular Registrar office in Russia (or the country of destination for marriage) about the exact list of documents this office will be asking you to present as the documents on the list may vary. - The processing period for the legalization procedure to be complete is 4-5 weeks  after you provide us with the necessary documents (express service available) - The fee is $200.00 per document, which includes notary, consular, courier and other applicable consulting costs, excluding tax. * (Letter of Non-impediment) You have to order this letter personally. In the Province of Ontario it may be done through The Ministry of Government Services.
